Graphite on paper
Another tree outside the window and the biggest distraction to my daily work. The most common visitors to the tree are black nape orioles, yellow vented bulbuls, cuckoos and since the last couple of days, I have had the pleasure of watching 2 woodpecker fledglings playing on this tree. I am no birder but its hard not to stop everything and come to watch and listen to the riot of sounds. By the way this picture has 4 orioles and the fledglings:)* Spot them..I know the sketch is bad.. but still.. can you?
(I am trying to do a lot of graphite sketching these days..out of laziness to paint and also to try and improve the speed of sketching on the spot. Trying to sketch birds (atleast their basic shape and character) in the limited time is proving to be pretty challenging but pleasurable nevertheless.
*Edit- I find that these are supposedly the smallest woodpeckers found in Singapore called the Sunda Woodpecker. They are almost pocket sized!

Enjoying your sketches. I see much depth and value in your graphite sketches. Of course I am partial to your colorful paintings that ooze detail and textures :)
Thanks Rupa:) I will hopefully post more oils in the coming days.
